Q&A
The Sound: You birthday is in very close proximity
to Bob Marley's and every year you throw
a birthday bash for both of you, how heavy of
an influence has he been in your life & your musical
career?
Mystic Bowie: Bob Marley have everything to
do with my life and career for many reasons.
Few reasons, I live by his teachings and message
thru his music. He has paved the way for
me to travel so this world can hear what I have
to say thru my music. He showed me to never
accept limits if I have a dream.
The Sound: How long have you thrown this
bash? How many different countries has it been
thrown in?
Mystic Bowie: I have been throwing this bash
for over 18 years. I have thrown my bash in the
US and Jamaica only this will be the 6th year in
Fairfield CT.
The Sound: I see that you have quite a lineup
for that night, how did you go about picking the
performers to play along with you for the event?
Mystic Bowie: Tom Tom club's Chris Frantz &
Tina Weymouth have hosted the past 3 years
and they also invite friends along. I just got confirmation
from the son of a Jamaican legend
that he will be here, but will keep his name as a
surprise. I’ve had some very good surprises in
the past. I spoke to some of my past guests and
they wish to stay out of the spotlight.
The Sound: Rumor has it that you have ad
some celebrity guest appearances in the past
show up to your birthday bash...is it true? Who
were they and how did they contribute to the
night?
Mystic Bowie: It is true that some celebrity
showed up in the past not by my invite but as
surprise to me too. I call them to ask about
dropping their names but they wish to stay out
of the spotlight for now and are hoping to attend
again this year.
The Sound: You just had a record release party
with Fairfield theatre company in December, tell
us a little bit about that night and when and
what can people expect from the live DVD due
this spring?
Mystic Bowie: My new album "Nevah Kiss &
Tell" was release to a very supportive audience
at "Negril Escape Resort & Spa" in Jamaica on
November 10th 2009. It was then release in 8
cities in British Columbia Canada in mid December.
I also shot a music video in BC for the
title track "Nevah Kiss & Tell" which is now been
edit in BC by the Okanagan Film Fest where it
will be entered for awards. I then flew to the US
after being stuck in Seattle because of the
snow storm in NY. I got in just in time for the
album launch concert at FTC on Dec 20th. I
was very honored to see a sold out crowd waiting
for me. The "Mystic Bowie Live" DVD was
shot that night by "Zion Gate Film" and is now
getting worked on hoping for the release of it in
the Spring.
